Anyone who has been shopping in the Middle East can tell you there is no other shopping place like it in the world, with the old fashion flare of the traditional souks with the open market feel to the modern day malls. Shopping for perfume in the middle east can be exciting experience, going stall to stall looking for the exact fragrance or shopping in the more exclusive perfume store with large glass bottles displaying clear to golden liquids with some of the most beautiful scents in the world. If you do not find the scent you are looking for, you may ask to have a scent personalized for you. The sales person will  be willing to help you find the right perfume.

Perfume souks and shops can be found in many places throughout the Middle East and are known for there variety of fragrances made with the finest of ingredients.  Most Middle Eastern perfumes are made from a  oil base which makes the scents linger longer than an alcohol based perfume which  evaporates quickly.  The sweet smelling aroma's come from some of the oldest of scents such frankincense, jasmine, and musk;  which were used more than a thousand years ago in this region.

Since most people do not get a chance to rush off to the Middle East to do their shopping for perfumes there are several Internet stores that offer a wide range of oil based perfumes or attars.  In looking I found numerous stores that offer a wide selection at a very good price. The Middle Eastern perfumes are typically displayed in a beautiful ornate bottle which not only smells wonderful but also makes a nice dresser ornament.

Remember perfume makes a good gift any time of the year for the marhim men in our life; It is a very nice gift and should not be rejected.

Narrated 'Azra bin Thabit Al-Ansari: When I went to Thumama bin 'Abdullah, he gave me some perfume and said that Anas would not reject the gifts of perfume. Anas said: The Prophet used not to reject the gifts of perfume. (saheeh of al bukhari)

It is a sunnah of the Prophet to wear nice scents and  We know from many Ahadeeth that the Prophet (peace be upon him) wore the best of scent.

Narrated Aisha: I used to perfume Allah's Apostle with the best scent available till I saw the shine of the scent on his head and shine on his beard. (saheeh of al bukhari)

The Prophet also advocated the use of scent by the men of his ummah.

Narrated Abu Said: I testify that Allah's Apostle said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and  the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available." Amr (a sub-narrator) said, "I confirm that the taking of a bath is compulsory, but as for the Siwak and the using of perfume, Allah knows better whether it is obligatory or not, but according to the Hadith it is as above." (saheeh of al bukhari)

It must be noted that perfume for women should only be worn in their own home and must not be worn where any non marhim males are at.

Zainab, the wife of Abdullah (b. 'Umar), reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said to us: When any one of you comes to the mosque, she should not apply perfume. (muslim)

Narrated AbuMusa: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If a woman uses perfume and passes the people so that they may get its odor, she is so-and-so, meaning severe remarks. (abu dawaud)

Perfume for women can be enjoyed by herself and her husband in the comfort of her home without any problems.
