The Kitchen - making life easy
“In the childhood memories of every good cook, there's a large kitchen, a warm stove, a simmering pot and a mom.”
-Barbara Costikyan
“There is a peculiar burning odor in the room, like explosives. the kitchen fills with smoke and the hot, sweet, ashy smell of scorched cookies. The war has begun.”
-Alison Lurie
One of the greatest inventions in the home was the pantry.  I miss those old pantries that used to be small rooms, not just a few shelves! -Badreya
Have you ever walked into a kitchen and walked out?  I have.  I took one look at the disaster and walked right out!
I've had to re-think my strategy.  Here are some tips to keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.  Each tip takes no more than 5 minutes.  You don't have to do them all at once, you can do them as you go, while your cooking, after doing the dishes etc.  They only take a few minutes a day and you'll be a few days away from having a more organized and easy to clean kitchen.

Wipe grimy hand prints off the front of the fridge and cabinets and doors.  Spray them with your favorite kitchen    cleaner while your doing the dishes.  When your done, wipe the grime away.  It will come right off.  Don't forget     the handles.

Toss spoiled produce from the fridge veggie bin, wash the bin in the sink, dry it and line with paper towels.  Next   time it won't be so hard to clean.  You'll just throw the towel and wipe the bin and replace with a clean towel.

Remove all items from the two shelves of the fridge door.  Clean and dry the shelves.  Wipe sticky jars and bottles and put them back.

Wipe off spice/herb containers with a wet cloth and reorganize them on the shelf or in a drawer.  Refill your jars.   You'll be amazed at how much you can get rid of.

Remove items from the top of the fridge.  Spray the surface with a de-greaser, wipe and find a new home for the    things you stored up there.  Items on top of the fridge are the perfect dirt collector.  Keep it simple up there.

Remove one appliance from your kitchen counter or fridge top.  Fewer items out means fewer items to clean, or    clean around.

Arrange kitchen cupboards so glasses and plates are closest to the dishwasher.
